Day 1

Meet and greet at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City, and transfer to your hotel in La Antigua Guatemala. Overnight in La Antigua Guatemala.

City tour of La Antigua Guatemala, a beautiful colonial city destroyed by Santa Marta earthquake in 1773. Visit to the most emblematic places of the city, where buildings have been constructed over ruins. Overnight in La Antigua Guatemala.

Day 3

Visit to Santo Tomás Church in Chichicastenango, which offers an extraordinary expression of syncretic experiences and mysticism. Also, visit to the local cemetery, the Museum at the Hotel Museo Maya Inn. Hike to Cerro Turcaj to share with a Quiché family. Accommodations in Panajachel.

Day 4

While in Panajachel, you will take a boat to visit the villages of Santiago Atitlán (Cackchiquel), San Juan La Laguna, and San Pedro La Laguna (Tzutuhil) to live community experiences including the guild of Maximón, an idol venerated by the locals.

Day 5

Transfer from La Antigua Guatemala to Concepción de Ataco via the Route of the Flowers, in El Salvador. Free afternoon to visit the picturesque town. Accommodations in Ataco.

Day 6

Tour around the charming villages in the Route of the Flowers, each one with its own charm. The tour includes a visit to a coffee roasting plant, so you can taste the different ways to prepare this tasty drink. Accommodations in Ataco.

Day 7

Tour the emblematic town of Izalco, which preserves its traditions and culture. Lunch will be in a large house where the hosts will prepare your meal. In the afternoon, visit to the town of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, which is a Nahuatl settlement whose descendants show their pottery-making experience. Tour includes a walk to the Estuco waterfall. Day 8

Caluco is an old Pipil settlement where plantations of Creole cacao are still found. The community will show you how they make chocolate from scratch, and some other delicacies from the Ojushte tree seed. You will enjoy hot springs to relax for a while. Accommodations in Caluco.

Day 9

On the way to San Salvador, we will stop at the Santa Adelaida Cooperative, where you will learn about the process of organic coffee production. You will share experiences with members of the cooperative and farmer’s families. Tour includes a walk along pathways and a visit to a workshop of artisan women who make images with leaves and flowers, in Comasagua Town. Accommodations in San Salvador.

Day 10

Departure for El Salvador´s International Airport, or keep on going with an extension tour to Honduras. Extension: Depart for Gracias, Lempira in Honduras.

Day 11

Visit to La Campa village, near the town of Gracias, whose economic income comes from the pottery produced by its artisans. Lunch will be prepared by the community. Back in Gracias, visit to Fort San Cristobal and other interesting places. Accommodations in Gracias.

Day 12

Visit to El Celaque National Park, where the highest point of Central America is located. Hike the trails to enjoy nature accompanied by forest rangers who, at some point, were hunters. Accommodations in Gracias.

Day 13

Departure for San Pedro Sula with a stop in Santa Rosa de Copán, another nice colonial city in Honduras. After lunch, continue to San Pedro Sula to rest, and get ready for your trip back home, next day. Accommodations in San Pedro Sula.

Day 14

Departure for the Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport.
